Blog Post #10: Retrospective - March on the Pentagon (2007)

Updated: Oct 28, 2022

To commemorate my start as a filmmaker 15 years ago, I am sharing a retrospective series of write-ups dedicated to my past short film work that includes brief commentary for each short film as well as a few "fun facts" about their creation.

9/16. March on the Pentagon (2007)

On March 17th, 2007, the Students for a Democratic Society (sds) joined thousands of demonstrators from around the country at their nation's capital to protest the illegal occupation of Iraq and demand an immediate withdrawal of U.S. forces from the ravaged country.

My third and most ambitious political vignette. I attended the march with fellow members of the UCF chapter of Students for a Democratic Society (sds). We were joined by countless individual activists, activist groups and other sds members from all over.

The weather in Washington, D.C. was uncomfortably cold on this eventful St. Patrick's Day but the heat of our collective and impassioned protest against our country's preeminent military-industrial-congressional complex kept us all warm and cozy.

Fun Facts:

• The march took place on my birthday.

Festivals & Awards:

• Official Selection at the Slow Film Festival in Hungary, 2007
