I was recently invited to privately screen my 4th film Ask Delphi and my series Flush for Miami Film Festival leadership at Miami Dade College's Koubek Center. The following is a thank you note enclosed the day after to Executive Director James Woolley and Programming Director Lauren Cohen:
Dear James, Lauren and the dutiful Koubek projectionist, Thank you for hosting me and my work at Koubek Center yesterday afternoon. I understand how scarce time is for stalwart cultural stewards such as yourselves, so it was certainly an honor to occupy some of that time with you. And I deeply appreciated your positive, encouraging responses to what I had to offer. Moving forward, I will keep you apprised of any major breaks in my still-fledgling career and I will pay ample attention to the latest developments regarding your illustrious festival. I am always comforted by the thought that we are as Paleolithic musicians or their facilitators laying a foundation for the Bachs and Beethovens to come forth in the centuries ahead in this nascent medium; a notion of ever-beckoning potential that never wears on me! Poetics aside, please hear my most gracious thank you and my promise that we'll remain in touch! Ars longa, vita brevis! Best regards, Gabriel Rhenals Filmmaker | Author | Visual Artist
