25 years ago, I borrowed my father's digital 8mm camcorder and never put her back.

For six years, I enjoyed a close, intimate bond with this beautiful machine and produced nine canonical short films with her. Despite the beckoning of so many newer, more capable cameras, she remained in service well into the high-definition era. I can still recall at will the scent of her lithium battery-warmed plastic, the sound of her operational chimes and the tactility of her various buttons.

In 2007, she began to lose her structural integrity from overuse and I was compelled to retire my trusty, dear companion. However, to this day she remains in my possession and I occasionally take her out to help resurrect the velvety emotions associated with a time long past but never forgotten.
