Five years ago today on the closing night of a student film festival at FIU, I met a young actress named Stephanie Maltez who'd starred in one of the short films that played the same night as my own at the festival. At the closing night event, we struck up a conversation and she expressed an interest in working with me if an opportunity presented itself. A month or two later, one did and I took her up on her offer. And since our first moments working together, I knew I'd scarcely find someone better to help shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land in the arduous but rewarding world of independent filmmaking done right.
So, thank you, Steph! Thank you for five unforgettable years of friendship and creative collaboration. I can't wait to show the world how much more breathtaking you are as the lionhearted Evie Sorella in our first feature film, For My Sister (now in post-production)! You have my endless gratitude, admiration and support! Much love!
